Yes I'm Still Running

I haven't written for awhile since my running is up and down.
I'm up to 16.5 miles as my longest run so far for Hartford and I have at least one long run a week.
My right hip has been giving me some issues. I have gone back to the chiropractor and it has helped.
I just don't feel loose. I don't have any real speed either.
I will continue to work on stretching more and I will try to do speed work each week.

Finally Solved my Right Side Problems

I simply changed my orthotics. My custom orthotics last about 4 - 5 years. I have pain in my foot and by now I should know I need new orthotics.
I bought a ElliptiGO 8C and I love it BUT I have already run over 16 miles this week and I feel GREAT!

Nutmeg State Marathon

Fun, small and great support. Goodwin Park is a very nice setting and this is a low key race.
I met Rob from Chicago and his wife walked the course and cheered everyone! Met a women from Kansas and said I should run the Kansas City Marathon.
I was slow but I just can't train as much as I should, 25 miles a week is a good week for me.

Boston 2018

My daughter Julie went with me to see me run.
We drove to Hopkinton and about 8:45 Julie left to go to Riverside and I got on the school bus to go to the runners village. It was raining lightly.
We got out at the runners village in a light rain. It got heavier. I tried to stand near the building since it was mud city. The rain was also coming off the roof. My hands were shaking before we left to go to the start. People were discarding clothes so I picked up a warm sweat shirt to wrap around my neck.
After using the porta-potty we left for the start, they let the blue and yellow wave go, so I walked up the hill and ran.
The first mile and a half I couldn't feel my legs, I knew I didn't have enough on. At mile 2 I took off my glasses and put them in my raincoat pocket. I think I put them back on in the Medical tent.
The wind blew right through me, especially when it downpoured. It wasn't so bad for the first 13 miles but then it kept up.
There was a volunteer in a wheelchair on the Newton hills  which kept me going. The hills were OK since I was running slow because of the weather.
At mile 22 I went into a porta-potty to wring out hat and gloves and wait for the downpour to let up. 4-5 minutes. I had used porta-potties earlier for what they were made for and wring out my stuff when it was dripping in my face. 20-30 mph winds, heavy rain, sleet and freezing rain did slow me down.
I average 25 miles/week so 26.2 is a long run.
Walked a little in last 4.2 miles but finished strong because I thought I could die from hypothermia.
I was shaking so after the finish that I excepted the request to go to the Medical tent.
It took 20 minutes to warm up until I felt warm was coming.
Julie brought clothes to the tent and I was warmer. But she couldn't come in.
They released me and I went to get food and find Julie. I went down the finish and turned to the Family meeting. Shaking already. I couldn't find A. Called Julie when I just couldn't go another step.
She found me and we made it to the T. Just missed next T to Riverside.
A young women gave me her seat on the T, I must have looked worse than I thought.
Julie drove home and I don't usually eat at McD's but we needed something, grilled chicken sandwich.
Home, dry!

Ready as I'm Going to Be...

My long runs for the past 4 weeks: 16.3, 11.1, 12.1 and 10.1. It is suppose to be cold and rainy so I will be OK as long as I take it slow, especially for the first 17 miles.
Hey, it's BOSTON! I'm going to have fun and run as well as I can run.

Feeling Good after Longer Runs

I have run several runs of 10 or more miles and I'm feeling fine after. The CBD oil takes the stiffness out of my muscles and I am trying to read my body better. I have meditated for 47/48 days and it has helped me sleep better. I continue to do many of the exercises that both Kendra and Heather have given me and I am maintaining my weight at 158 lbs.
Definitely looking forward to Boston and I am trying to come up with goals for the Summer and Fall.

Rehoboth Beach 2017

So I wasn't able to run last week except to test a new shoe, Rider 21, for the race. It really hurt my right knee after 3 miles. My achilles hurt last week after running 3 days in a row so I was looking for a new shoe. My MT CC said stress soft tissue over hard tissue so I went with the Saucony Ride in the race. I always listen to CC, my therapist, friend and coach.
My knee still hurt from the test run for the first 7 miles but THEN I was OK.  miles of slow running followed by getting into my pace and by mile 18 I was crusing! I had hoped for a 4:19 but since this is the season (Advent) of Hope, I stuck with it and was rewarded with a 4:16:02 6/18 in my age group. AG equivalent now is 3:16 but it is tough not to be able to run as fast as I did even 5 years ago.

Amherst Half Marathon

It was the inaugural for the Amherst MA 1/2 marathon. It started out cold
: I had 2 merino wool shirts, gloves and a merino hat on and I left the hat on the entire race. It started up hill and continued up and down for most of the race. I did think that too much was on the wrong side of the road the opposite canter would have been better. But my right leg was good the whole way. I finished strong in 1:59:26, 1st in age group 1/3. Great race which I will run again. Jane from Select PT was there but I did not see any runners I knew.

Running Well

Yes I feel good on every run again, slow but relatively pain free. 15.4 miles today in 2:31. Amherst 1/2 next Sunday and Rehoboth marathon first week of December. My plan is to run 2 minutes faster than Boise next weekend and 7-8 minutes faster in Rehoboth than Hartford.

Pure Joy!

I ran my first marathon of the year, Eversource Hartford yesterday in 4:27:43. The joy I felt the entire race I can not describe. I was smiling the entire run and kicked it in the last 2.2 miles.

Fit One Half Boise ID

Awesome time in Idaho. 2:03:03.6 for the half 5/6 in age group in top 1/3 of all finishers BUT I felt like my old self for the last 6+ miles I was running by everyone.
I'm going to try the Hartford Marathon to see how far I have progressed.

August Stats and Reflection

I felt better in August with running 103.5 miles and 123.81 miles on the Elliptigo. Things seem too tight still and I'm not sure I like the Clifton 4 as much as the Clifton 3. Too many long miles last week had me back on the Elliptigo ARC 3 all weekend. Half in 2 weeks will tell me more about my progress.

No Compression

My LMT Cecilia Major felt the compression shorts may be the cause of some numbness I have been experiencing and I tested it out this weekend. Seems like she is spot on.
41.3 miles on the ARC 3 Elliptigo and 26.4 miles running this week. I feel good and I believe I am finally able to ramp up so I can start racing again.

Month Off!

Yes I had to take a month off. I just didn't have it. After a 16.1 run I knew I needed to do something different. About 280 miles on my Elliptigo ARC 3 and I finally ran the past 6 days, about 18 miles.
i'm back to 35-40 minutes with plans to run a1/2 in October and a full in December.

10.2 miles today at a 4:02 marathon pace. I felt strong throughout the run. Kudos to all the help I am getting!

Coming Back Slowly

I've run 4 out of the past 6 days for a total of 19.1 miles. I have a lot of strength training to do and I have been adding 1 or 2 a day but it's very time consuming. Definitely stronger running 8:56 pace overall today in 88 degree heat for 5.2 miles. Needed more to drink.
